Werner Baller is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of WEBA, a leading global producer of bulk material transfer chutes. WEBA's 300-odd talented employees serve hundreds of clients in more than 10 countries worldwide.
Mr Baller has more than 27 years' experience in transfer chute systems and more than 45 years total experience in the mining and engineering industries, and has developed nine patented products including the WEBA Chute System.
He founded WEBA in 1984 when he purchased M&J Engineering in South Africa, a small mining supply firm specialising in underground coal mining equipment.
Recognising a need in the industry, Mr Baller was true visionary who steered the company to specialise in bulk material transfer and transformed it to become what it is today: renowned as a producer of the best quality transfer chutes in the world.
Mark Baller is the Managing Director of WEBA, an international engineering firm that specialises in the design, manufacture, production and maintenance of bulk material transfer chutes. WEBA's 300-odd talented employees serve hundreds of clients in more than 10 countries worldwide.
Mark has over 20 years' experience in the mining industry, in manufacturing and project management. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the Vaal Triangle Technikon in South Africa before completing his national service and joining the family business in 1990.
Initially working on the ground floor doing installation and fabrication management, Mark then spent two years in Australia, first at the University of New South Wales and then in Perth where he completed several courses in material handling.
On his return to WEBA South Africa he first assumed the position of production manager and became managing director.
Alwin Nienaber is Technical Director at WEBA, one of the world's premier producers of bulk material transfer chutes. Under his direction, WEBA has successfully designed over 2800 quality chutes.
He has introduced cutting-edge technologies, systems and processes to create technically advanced and cost efficient material handling systems.
Mr Nienaber joined the WEBA Team in 1995 as chief designer after spending the previous decade working as a consultant, instructor and designer.
After completing his N5 and trade test Mr Nienaber moved into the then brand new industry of CAD design.
At WEBA, he is passionate about driving the ongoing progress and development of WEBA chutes.
Anne-Lize Groesbeek is the Financial Manager of WEBA, a leading global producer of bulk material transfer chutes.
Prior to joining WEBA, she had more than 14 years' experience in accounting, financial management, information technology and administration.
Board of Directors
Farouk Abrahams became a director of the WEBA board in 2015. Mr Abrahams has extensive experience in leadership, director level and senior management experience in corporate finance, debt advisory and capital arrangement.
He has more than 14 years' experience in the Mining Industry and has previously served as the Financial Director of the South African Mining Development Association (SAMDA). In this capacity he worked closely with all stakeholders in the mining industry. He has extensive experience in investment and merchant banking, including seven with Investec Bank Limited in their Mining and Resources Division.
He is an ex-founding shareholder and director of Batsalani Investments (Pty) Ltd and ex director of the African Lion Fund – mining private equity fund with Investec as one of the founding shareholders. He was also non-executive chairman of Hitachi Construction Mining Africa for two years.
Olivier Barbeau was named to the WEBA board of directors in 2015. He has been involved as a principal in various corporate finance and advisory firms for more than 15 years.
He has extensive corporate finance experience, having initiated, developed and implemented transactions for numerous listed and unlisted companies.
His primary areas of focus are mining and Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) transactions. In this sector he has a formidable track record of concluding significant transactions, most recently with several major Chinese State Owned Entities.
Olivier is a registered Chartered Accountant in South Africa and Mauritius. This has enabled him to advise several multinational businesses on their offshore structures.
Anton Millar was appointed as a director on the WEBA board in 2015. He is Principal and owner of TSC Capital, a private investment and advisory entity primarily focusing on arranging, advising, participating in and managing private equity investments – predominantly in mining services.
A chartered accountant, Mr Millar has more 20 years' experience in financial markets covering all aspects of investment banking. He was Managing Director at Absa Capital (part of Barclays Capital) in South Africa and responsible for the Corporate and Investment Banking Division. Prior to joining Absa Capital, Anton was joint head of Specialised Finance for South Africa at Investec Bank.
Anton has been involved in all aspects of advisory, M&A, equity raising, cross border financing, asset based finance, acquisition finance, equity linked finance and all aspects of debt capital markets across most sectors.
